I find it fascinating that the psychical realm of cyber-information is now being called a “cloud” and the Revelation chapter of the Bible predicts that the Lord will return in the midst of clouds. Could both cloud-terms refer to a delivery system for important data?
According to scientist/theologian, Emanuel Swedenborg, the Lord’s Second Coming has more to do with new, life-changing information than a physical return to Earth.
A “cloud” is a great symbolic representation to describe a general collection of knowledge, for such a collection of data presents us with a “mental mist” and a blurry collection—until we pull specific information out of it. That is when we can see into the cloud.
The same is true with spiritual enlightenment.
Swedenborg claimed that Holy Scripture uses this same kind of symbolism in its sacred narratives. Spiritually speaking, The Lord’s Return via clouds (Rev. 1:7) involves making new and more specific information available from the literal data of the Holy Word, so that instead of theological confusion (which the variety of religious views attests to), one could glean more explanatory, specific and useful data about God’s glory and the heavenly kingdom that all seekers could grasp.
The Second Coming involves an un-clouding of the human mind.
This un-clouding in spiritual matters is actually happening to thousands of human inhabitants who are of a nature to accept new info (revelations) from “above.” The more individuals embrace this rarefied knowledge and promote it, the more the cyberspace cloud will indeed become the cloud by which the Lord can reveal Himself more deeply to the human heart and mind!
What better way for the Lord to make all things “anew” than to change the hearts and minds of the human race through potent new information!
It’s also interesting to me that clouds are made of water, and that our water is becoming so affected by many things lately. When you start to visualize the water in the world (which makes up clouds and so much of our bodies and plants and pets and air) and then the cloud of the internet (which fuels all of our devices and so much of our communication) it really is this all-permeating substance, covering nearly every crevice and being everywhere, like I imagine God’s experience to be.
