Multiply Yourself – Everywhere!

Be honest. Don’t you wish everyone would think and be like you? If you could turn everyone else into “you,” the world would be six billion times better. I am not kidding.

Furthermore, you actually have the power to do so.

Not only would it be a good thing to turn everyone else into copies of “you,” God wants you to do precisely just that! In fact, it is actually one of God’s great commandments. The commandment is to love thy neighbor as oneself.

Confused? Let me explain.

God really does want us to look at others and see ourselves. But this is not to be understood as a spreading out of one’s self-centeredness in all directions. It is an act of humility.

When one person loves another as him or herself, he or she will then see the other in oneself, and oneself in the other. This spiritual love and consciousness is called empathy.

It is not the multiplication or the forcing of one’s will upon everyone else, either. It is the harmonious unification of the wills of many.

This unites one person with another. And even better, unites one society with another.

This union does not superimpose our likeness upon another person. Rather, it allows us all to take on the likeness of the Lord God, who is Divine Love.

Heaven is a likeness of the Lord because it consists of those who live in spiritual love and unity. Heaven on earth is the adoption of neighborly love by all its terrestrial citizens.

This is the deeper meaning within God’s command to be “fruitful and multiply.” God wants us each to increase the good in the world.

That would indeed make the world six billion times better.

    Dear GodGuy,

Well put. Your interpretation of spiritual-love seems very Buddhist to me. You’ve pointed out very interesting correlations too.

The type of spiritual-love you describe here is the most important thing we have on Earth. In my opinion, it is also the only thing that will allow our civilization to progress much beyond this planet.

    Thank you for the thoughts.

    Dear spritblogger,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. All true religion comes from the same source. The Creator adapts religion to the pysche of those who live in different places and who lived in different periods of time.

So, similar “core” ideas can be found in all religion – if one wishes to find them in an unbiased way. If you have been following some of my posts then you know that I follow the theology of Emanuel Swedenborg. Swedenborg’s Christian ideas and Buddhism have so many similarities that the 20th Century Japanese Buddhist scholar Suzuki wrote a book entitled “Swedenborg: Buddha of the North.” It can be obtained from the Swedenborg Foundation.

I am not aware of one religion that does not in some way promote LOVE. But the historical evidence shows that such a simple principle is actually, quite difficult for the human race to apply to their lives.

But this will change in a most unexpected and spectacular manner. The Second Coming is happening now! And it is happening in a “place” where people will least expect it – in their hearts and minds. The Lord God is currently revealing deeper spiritual ideas for those with open minds and open hearts.

Heaven is not simply a place you go to. It is something you become.

    Spiritually yours,

    Sir Edward,

This will be my last post, as I can see you really don’t want to deal with me anymore, which is fine, but of course disappointing. My father was a scientist and physicist, so I was around this all of my younger life at least. And mystery was always in his mind!

I will leave this for you and perhaps your readers. Still one of my favorite minds and an indeed profound Christian’s was Blaise Pascal. He is still a great read and mind! Truely as Pascal knew the ways and purposes of God are inscrutable! And as St. Paul, “His ways past finding out”! But always Pascal knew that God was about the interior man and life, and here the Pauline “new man within” – In Christ!

As I do my rounds in the hospital ward, I am always amazed at the mystery of God in human life!

    Sincerely In Christ,
    the Rev. Dr. Fr. Robert

    Dear Fr, Robert,

It looks like I have brought you back into my life – temporarily.

The interior man and his (or her) life deals with LOVE. Religion is directed at a man’s heart and mind by providing the best values to live by. These values our the knowledges of faith. Faith therefore must be put into action. We must live our faith and make it organically real.

When each of us approaches the Lord, and ask for His help in changing our lives, this must include our sincere efforts at resisting our negative proclivities. Spiritual love is not one way, it must be reciprocal. That is why our loving God back is at the top of the list of the Commandments. It is through LOVE that the Lord enters into a covenant with each of us.

Love is not only doing good to others, but not doing anything bad, either. Faith alone is only half of the equation of salvation.

I will not allow you to turn all my posts into discussions about the cross and a God who demanded the bloodshed of His Son as an appeasement to His wrath. I disagree with your barbaric caricature of God.

    Spiritually yours,
