Angels can’t understand plain English

They cannot understand any human language for that matter. In fact, angels would strongly disagree with you as to what the stories of the Holy Bible mean.

If you were to try to tell angels about Adam, Eve, Abram or Moses, they would treat these individuals as if they had no existence and only acknowledge that you were talking about the Lord God and his church.  Anything terrestrial would be profane.

In the angelic mind, nothing of the Lord’s Word treats of worldly things. They only understand divine things that belong to the Lord God. What makes the Holy Word holy is that it is ONLY ABOUT GOD. All the different personalities, countries and nations described in the Holy Word represent—on a deeper level—various qualities of worship and more detailed doctrinal information.

No individual, no country, and no nation, is qualified or holy enough to be mentioned in the Sacred Word unless these things could be used to represent God and heavenly things. So there is more to God’s Holy Word than meets the eye.

Angels, who do not have their ideas tied to physical time and space, can discern these deeper psycho-spiritual meanings in Sacred Scripture. When they read the creation story in Genesis, they do not understand the words as describing the creation of a physical universe. Instead they understand it as the process of a man or woman’s rebirth and re-creation (epigenesis).

Deeper still, angels can distill new revelations about God and His glorification from an even greater power of mental abstraction or elevation of meaning beyond the literal sense of the narratives of Scripture.

For instance, the split and reconnection between Abram and his brother Lot actually portrays the process of the Lord’s unique education and His various combats with hellish forces while living in the world—these were the means by which the Lord unified His human nature (the Son) with His Divine nature (the Father).

God foresaw all these events taking place before the act of creation. This Divine foresight of everything that was to occur in time and space was the Divine Truth or Word that existed before creation. When Jehovah God personally came into the world, He literally lived out all the stories of Scripture and fulfilled all its prophecies. This was the process by which the Lord made the Word “flesh.”

The revelations concerning a deeper level of communication of God’s truth within the ordinary words of Scripture has been made known to the world through the theological writings of Emanuel Swedenborg.

I hope you seek out some of his books. They are available from the Swedenborg Foundation.

It is time for the world to begin to think like angels.
