Are All Things Really Possible For God?

Nope! Even the Infinitely omnipotent Creator of the universe has limitations.

For instance, God cannot open and close a door at the same time. Nor can God beat a full house with a pair of eights at the poker table. But more importantly, our Lord God cannot change an evil person to a good person with a snap of the fingers—this would destroy that person’s subjective experience and individuality. Such a change from good to evil requires a willingness and cooperation in the person to adopt new values and participate in the change. In this way, one’s individuality and first-person experience takes part in the change whereby continuity of life is preserved.

God is order and law itself. Therefore, to break the rules, God would have to self-destruct (for He would cause Himself to no longer be ontologically real).

What about miracles? Don’t God’s miracles provide evidence that the laws of nature can be overturned?

Miracles are not the suspension of physical laws. Physical laws have their origins in spiritual laws. Therefore, physical laws are the expression (analog) of spiritual laws under the constraints of time and space.

Because physical laws have their origin in and correspond to, spiritual laws, they can respond (co-respond) more perfectly to similar heavenly forces.

As an example of this similitude, when the Lord walked on water and calmed the stormy seas that were threatening to sink the boat His disciples were in, it signified a higher, but psycho-spiritual equivalent. So let’s look at the “spiritual” significance of this miracle.

Water symbolizes truth (because water cleanses the body just as truth cleanses the soul). “Walking on water” symbolizes that God’s truth is on a higher level than man’s truth and thus has levity. “Calming the stormy seas” further communicates the heavenly message that God’s holy truth calms the troubled minds of men and women on earth.

Because natural law corresponds to spiritual law, spiritual forces can lawfully flow into and supervene on the world of physical matter and remove constraints upon spacetime phenomena. A “miracle” is simply the process of mind over matter on a more intense scale. All miracles obey law!

This top-down causal process between spirit and matter is how the Lord was able to resurrect his entire body after the crucifixion and allow it to ascend to heaven. In this most special case, spiritual laws and forces became so infused into the Lord’s body that it became wholly divine and perfectly responsive to higher, heavenly order.

No laws were broken. They were simply augmented and intensified!
