In my new book Proving God I attempt to show why he was correct. In a nutshell, the science of correspondences maintains that all the objects, processes and living creatures in the physical world represent some non-material quality in the invisible world of spirit. This model of top-down self-representation, when fully grasped, can offer academia a profound theory of causal process that emerges out of a pre-geometric and pre-Planck world. Such a framework also serves to lawfully unify science and theology by challenging the current assumptions of both.
Swedenborg’s science of correspondences challenges the notion in quantum physics that fundamental reality consists of irreducible chance. Swedenborg’s view gives real structure to the otherwise un-picturable idea of “quantum froth” which is a carrier of God’s eternal goals and the correspondence principle (self-similarity). This allows a causal link between non-classical and classical descriptions of physics.
The science of correspondences challenges the Big Bang theory as well as Einstein’s contention that spacetime geometry is continuous and that the speed of light is the limiting velocity for the propagation of matter and information. Swedenborg understood that the structure of spacetime was discrete and has provided us with new clues for solving the problem of quantum gravity.
The science of correspondence offers a superior model of a multi-dimensional universe to that of string theory. It allows for a much sought after background-independent description and more perfectly follows the ubiquitous law of parsimony—that all events and processes in the universe unfold along the most efficient path (Principle of Least Action or Occam’s Razor).
The science of correspondences offers a new and theistic approach to evolutionary theory and Intelligent Design (and the role YOU play in God’s cosmic scheme).
And finally, the science of correspondences helps the researcher to identify real laws of physics operating within the top-down scaffolding and architecture of God’s Holy Word!
