Does “maya” interfere with biblical interpretation?

The term “maya” comes from the Hindu/Buddhist philosophy that studying the world solely through sensory perception produces ILLUSION. Worldly phenomena conceal a deeper reality, undetected by the five senses, which expresses the ultimate unity of Being and existence. Fundamental reality consists of infinite spirit and consciousness. (In scientific terms, this is equivalent to the unified field, which brings pure consciousness and love into full accord with the laws of nature.)

According to scientist/theologian, Emanuel Swedenborg, studying the Judeo-Christian Bible from mere sensory perception also produces doctrinal illusion. He discovered that Holy Scripture contains deeper levels of expression within the literal and worldly meaning of its narratives.

In other words, human consciousness could be elevated in such a way that it could remove all the physical meanings of the biblical events and distill both a deeper spiritual, and more profound unified message.

Swedenborg provided evidence for these higher, non-material messages in his twelve-volume work entitled the Arcana Coelestia. In this great work he offers higher-level interpretations of the Holy Word by illustrating how one can lawfully remove the spacetime constraints from the literal meanings of its worldly language.

According to Swedenborg, God’s Holy Word was written in this symbolic format so that the men and women of earth could have a multi-leveled medium through which they could be connected to the angels of heaven (who live and think beyond spacetime constraints). Without this medium, the human race would become disconnected from the Holy Source of all life and existence, and thus perish.

These higher-level communications also reveal how we are to lawfully form a reciprocal relationship with the living Creator, by which salvation and eternal life can be attained. (If one makes additional efforts, he or she can find new scientific data from this rarefied approach to Scripture for forming a proper theory of top-down causal process—which I have discussed in earlier blog posts!)

This new (and unexpected) revelation about Holy Scripture is now being made available to the world. It represents the true meaning behind the Lord’s “return”—a non-physical return by which Jesus, the Alpha and Omega, will dispel our illusions.

  2. Hello, I am glad to find you here. You have an interest in the second coming. So do I.
What can you tell me about the second coming and about all truth to be revealed?

Thank you and God Bless you.

    • Hello God guy,

I was counting on the bible quote where Jesus says that when he comes again, he will reveal all truth. I feel that some of us cannot fathom the truth, even if it is in front of us. So I think the second coming of Christ, will come as a man, like the first and second coming happened, as men. Adam was the first potential true man, yet he failed at the Fall; Jesus became one with God, and became as the second (successful) Adam, but he was prevented by Satan from producing God’s family. While Jesus said he will come again, and will reveal all truth, I feel he will come in the flesh as a true teacher. Many Christians believe that. These are the last days, and he will come to reveal God’s will for humankind, as well as the Word of God which will guide us to build the Kingdom of Heaven on this earth. What do you think?

Happy New Year and God bless you and your family. I am a grandfather of four.

        Hello again Jim,

What extra truth is their to reveal other than deeper truths within God’s Holy Word? Since we can read God’s Word with are physical eyes there must be something deeper that lies within. God and the Holy Word are one (there is nothing to reveal unless it comes from the Lord God’s Word). God is Infinite. Therefore the Word is Infinite. How does one find infinite knowledge in a finite book (Bible) unless it contained ever deeper levels of wisdom to be revealed?

How do you explain the Lord’s words that the end times will not come with observation? How could you hide such a major event unless it is to take place within one’s spiritual reality?

This is a big topic. Please look into the sources that I have mentioned to you above. I am an author currently working on a new book project. Therefore, I have limited time (and mental energy) even for a friendly discussion.

        Spiritually yours,

    APOCALYPSE:
An uncovering, a bringing to light of that which had been previously wholly hidden or only obscurely seen. God has been pleased in various ways and at different times (Heb. 1:1) to make a supernatural revelation of himself and his purposes and plans, which, under the guidance of his Spirit, has been committed to writing. (See WORD OF GOD.)

    APOCALYPSE:
An uncovering, a bringing to light of that which had been previously wholly hidden or only obscurely seen. God has been pleased in various ways and at different times (Apocalypse Explained; Sorcery:
Because by thy sorcery have all nations been seduced signifies that by their wicked arts and persuasions they have compelled all the well disposed to believe and to do those things from which they have gained dominion and wealth. This is evident from the signification of “sorcery,” as being arts and persuasions, also from the signification of “nations” as being those who are in good, thus the well disposed; also from the signification of “to be seduced,” as meaning to be deceived by such arts and persuasions into believing and doing those things from which they have gained dominion and wealth. “Sorcery” has nearly the same signification in the Word as “enchantment,” and “enchantment” signifies such persuasion as causes a man to have no other perception than that a thing is so..

    Dear Jim,

I cannot offer you a “brain dump” on the Second Coming within the scope of this blog site. In a nutshell, the Second Coming represents the Lord’s return into our HEARTS and MINDS. That is where the real battle of the Apocalypse takes place – it is not a physical event. This “inner” or “spiritual return” is why the Lord maintained that such an event would “not come with observation” nor would one be able to “point to it.”

You can obtain more detailed information on the Second Coming from ordering my new book “Proving God” (on Amazon.com) or contacting the Swedenborg Foundation.

    Spiritually yours,
    TheGodGuy
