Toyland comes to the planet Kaboptah

It was the year 3051.

Because of diminishing resources, a search team from Earth was sent out in a spaceship to explore other parts of the universe in order to identify new hospitable planets rich in mineral deposits and fertile lands with the potential for enhanced food-growing capacity.

Technology had advanced on earth to the point that space travel could even surpass the speed of light. So it did not take long for this space crew to reach the distant planet Kaboptah, where, according to their highly sensitive instruments, they detected the geological and climatic conditions they were seeking.

When they landed on this alien world they discovered it was inhabited by similar humanoid beings. To the earth-astronauts, the Kaboptians, seemed to be a more primitive culture, since their technology was still in the “Stone Age.” The only observed physiological difference was that the Kaboptians had a slight protrusion at the back of their skulls where the cerebellum was located.

The earthmen, seeking to make friends, offered to share their advanced technology with these backward beings. The captain of the earth crew held out his star-phone, loaded with apps, to impress these “natives.”

To the captain’s surprise, his alien counterpart could communicate through thought! He telepathically heard the chief of this alien tribe say to him, “why do you bring us these child’s toys?’

The captain, with confident superiority, answered back in his mind, “These are not child toys. With our advanced technology we can talk or travel to the ends of the universe.”

“We got rid of these kinds of silly gadgets thousands of years ago,” replied the chief as certain muscles contracted along his forehead. “Instead, we moved over into soul technology.

“Soul technology? What is that?” Asked the captain.

“Obviously you can see that I am communicating directly with your mind. In fact, we not only can communicate with those in far off worlds through our inner and spiritual advancement, we can communicate with God’s angels in heaven. This allows us to possess information that is inaccessible to you and your so-called technology. In fact, we can tap into a realm with unlimited resources from where we stand.”

Feeling the need to defend the accomplishments of his species the captain replied, “We replaced religion with rationality and enlightenment. Our technology has wiped out most diseases and we can grow new body parts for continuous replacement. Heck, we no longer even take gender seriously.”

After saying this, the captain could feel the chief laughing inside his head. Then he was telepathically told by the chief, “we Kaboptians never have illnesses to begin with, because through soul technology, we had eventually gained full control over all our corporeal passions, which could not only deceive us but wreak havoc with our bodily harmony. Furthermore,” added the chief, “we look forward to death, where we can enjoy living among our spiritual friends in eternal blessedness.”

The captain now looked confused and disoriented.

“The human brain is the most technologically advanced structure in the universe. God designed it to be self-evolving,” said the chief without moving his mouth. “But human cognition and quality of life cannot not evolve to its full potentials through the increased sophistication of mere external gadgets. We must all ultimately evolve towards wisdom through the advancement of the heart, which not only brings about loving communities and returns us to a primal state of innocence but opens the innermost functions of our mind to its innate supra-natural capacities.”

“Crap,” said the captain, “powerful people back on earth who have invested huge sums of money for their terrestrial agendas will not want this information to get into the hands of the public.” The captain then let his innermost thoughts be known to the chief, asking, “Do you mind if I and my crew remain here?”

The chief smiled and all the earth astronauts immediately knew what this non-verbal gesture meant.
