I particularly enjoy watching documentaries on the History Channel on TV that speculate aliens from outer space visited the earth in our remote past. Some of this is based on the fact that ancient sites contained structures that would be a challenge even for modern know-how to construct.
Other evidence is in the artwork of several ancient traditions, which seem to depict strange flying vehicles capable of taking warfare into the skies and having the destructive power of nuclear weapons.
Thanks to the metaphysical insights of scientist/theologian, Emanuel Swedenborg, I believe I have been given the inside track to the real meaning of such fanciful artwork.
Swedenborg claimed that in former times, human societies embraced the science of correspondences. Simply put, this top-down, multi-dimensional science was based on the idea that the visible world was a mirror image or physical analog of the spiritual world. In other words, nature was a theater representative of the human mind and spirit.
When I look at ancient Hindu artwork depicting war chariots doing battle above the earth I don’t see these Indian artists trying to illustrate alien or extraterrestrial technology with their limited collection of terrestrial and familiar objects. Rather, I see an advanced culture of humans who are themselves communicating through an elevated mind.
One big giveaway that these battles depict spiritual rather than physical scenarios, is that they obviously illustrate warfare between good forces and evil forces. Swedenborg explained in his theological writings how bows, arrows and war chariots symbolized conflicting worldviews and the power of each side to persuade. (For instance, “arrows” are belief principles and arguments forged and sharpened to best penetrate those with opposing views.)
If such weapons were described as having the power to destroy the earth, it meant (on a higher, symbolic level) that they represented spiritual doctrines and principles that could destroy “lower” worldly or earthly paradigms. In other words, these grand cosmic scenarios of warfare were to be played out within the human heart and mind (called conscience)!
So indeed these ancient artists were depicting events of a civilization with advanced intelligence. However, this was angelic and spiritual intelligence, not technological or artificial intelligence. This intelligence is not from outer space but from inner space!
