For me, some of the most frightening horror flicks to ever come out of Hollywood are those where alien invaders grow and mature inside human bodies. I believe that the psychical power of these themes comes from the fact that we instinctively sense and recognize that dreadful things can indeed take hold deep inside us.
The alien creatures depicted in these movies, which have adapted their life cycles to require human hosts, are perfect metaphors for other real dangers that we earthlings are subjected to—like the “dept ceiling.” For instance, in the movies, these parasitic aliens become so perfectly fused with our organic functions that if they are surgically removed, the unfortunate host immediately dies. If we allow the parasite to continue growing we also die—but later. Even more insidious, to keep its hosts from becoming aware of the inevitable dangers of its feeding on us, the alien invaders release chemicals to anesthetize us and give us a false sense of well being.
Let’s look deeper into the analogy and symbolism of our current predicament.
The debt ceiling has indeed grown inside our economic body by anesthetizing the population, while slowly sucking out its lifeblood. In other words, it lives and grows off the dollars of our life’s sweat and labors but only returns just enough back to us to keep us continuously in a somnolent state and in false dependency on its uninterrupted growth.
Furthermore, the debt ceiling behaves like a true alien from outer space because its ultimate goals rely on deception and thus, are alien to those of the average citizen, which it lives off of. Because of this intimate symbiotic parasite/host relationship, if we were to wake up from our stupor and surgically remove the ceiling debt quickly from our lives, we would die immediately. If we allow it to keep growing, we also die—but later.
What do we do?
The only way to successfully remove such a hideous “beast” is to replace it with a powerful life-sustaining force that operates inside of us solely through selfless love.
That life force is God. The dept ceiling is just a more modern, political version, of the “Great Red Dragon” in the Apocalypse.
