We have to sincerely question whether current scientific and religious doctrines are the final say. I personally believe that the answer to this mystery must come from completely new revelations about science and theology. Both truth-systems need further discoveries.
According to scientist/theologian Emanuel Swedenborg, God not only created and maintains the universe according to divine intentions and goals but with laws that preserve a perfect inner consistency with Divine holy character.
In other words, God can only create from fundamental divine rules and qualities. Scientists realize that universal laws must express an inner consistency through “constants” but are unaware that the source of these laws are consistent with God’s spiritual qualities!
Theologically, these qualities involve God’s love, truth and usefulness and are sometimes referred to as God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Under the constraints of physical nature and spacetime, these three influences act as endeavor, dynamical trajectory and terminate (become formal and fixed) in some ultimate structure that contributes utility to the working and unity of the cosmos.
The Holy Trinity therefore serves as a scientific model as well as a religious model of reality (if we know how to interpret it). Swedenborg called the profound similarity between spiritual and natural laws, the science of correspondences. All things in nature result from, and are, mirror images of things in the non-material spiritual realm.
Even salvation is analogous to scientific principles and rules. A quick clue to this seemingly anti-intuitive statement is that nature is always trying to purify itself— just as God is always trying to purify human souls. (As above, so below.)
My latest book Proving God expands on this potent theme of worldview unity for the 21st Century. God intends to make new information available that will forge together a new paradigm that will transform human hearts and minds!
