“Magical” seeds

Seeds are remarkable little packages. They contain the patterning principles or template for bringing even more exalted and complex structures into existence— like plants and majestic trees. All seeds are means of bringing new life into the world.

Magical seeds would therefore bring even more miraculous qualities into the world scene. (I am using the word “magical” to describe the miraculous—not some dark powers.) In fact, such special seeds are designed for the human race to rise above the limitations and trappings of the physical world.

The well-known Fairy Tale Jack and the Beanstalk is a story about magical seeds in this positive sense. Fairy tales are a clever device for communicating great knowledge while using a symbolic language that protects its noble messages from the vanities and egos of the habitual human mind. The highly relevant messages hidden inside fairy tales, myths, parables and legends can only be deciphered by those individuals who have had special training and have been taught the code.

I will now give you a simple key for lawfully unlocking this code.

The quickest way to grasp this non-terrestrial (miraculous) form of communicating is to recognize the profound similarity between “seeds” and “ideas.” Whereas seeds are planted in physical soil or ground, ideas are planted in people’s minds—that is, in their psycho-soil. (We instinctively know of this similarity between physical and psychical things when we use the expression, “You’ve planted a seed in my mind.”)

One’s psycho-soil contains all the material gathered into our memory, but more important than that, this “ground” of human consciousness contains our favored values and intentions. So, no idea can be implanted within the human mind, take root, grow, leaf out, bloom or bear fruit without it promoting something valued by one’s heart. (Ideas not valued by us simply remain in our memories as “un-germinated” seeds.)

We each reject or cultivate ideas according to our best judgments. Therefore, the growth of mind and consciousness during our lives is actually a representation of our individual abilities and efforts to landscape our innermost reality.

For this reason the Lord God puts high priority in providing us with magical/miraculous seeds.

One such outcome of these magical seeds would be the creation of angelic beings. These angelic candidates would be individuals whose psychical soil was made fertile for receiving and cultivating God’s teaching of mutual love. This “inner” gardening or landscaping is the real aim of all true religion, and, it is why the Lord Jesus Christ curiously said that ”Heaven is within you.”

The Garden of Eden story in Genesis symbolically represented a heavenly (and God-influenced) inner ecosystem!

Heaven (or hell) represents the quality of a person’s spiritual ecosystem and biosphere. So we don’t simply go to heaven, we must become a heaven in our heart and mind. Angelic goodness is not given willy-nilly to anyone. Goodness is a choice. It is a special seed, from the Lord God’s teachings, that we allow to germinate during our lives!

I understand when Swedenborg talks about angels, he means humans
who pass on to the other side.

But how does he (verbaly) distuingingish those from the Biblical angels
like Gabriel, Michael, Lucifer and the rest non-human angels.

      Dear Bengt de Paulis,

Thank you for your supportive words.

As you probably know well, Swedenborg claimed that all angels were created from the human race (and from human species inhabiting other planets). Angels do not represent a distinct creation outside of humankind but are the results of re-creation, re-birth and spiritual evolution. Swedenborg also states that specific angels named in the narratives of Holy Scripture are symbolic representations of some divine quality in God. “Lucifer” is the opposite quality and represents a challenge or evil intention to usurp God’s divine power. All “human-ness” comes from God, therefore all angels are men and women who have made the humble efforts to become recipient forms of increased human-ness (through God’s tenets and mutual love).

        Thank you Edward.
No I did not know that angels ALL had human origin.
        What about::
Matthew 22:30 explains that they do not marry or reproduce like humans, and Hebrews 12:22-23 says that when we get to the heavenly Jerusalem, we will be met by “myriads of angels” and “the spirits of righteous men made perfect”—two separate groups.

Angels are a company or association, not a race descended from a common ancestor (Luke 20:34-36). We are called “sons of men,” but angels are never called “sons of angels.”

    Dear Bengt de Paulis,

When you stated that you were from “Swedenborg-land” I assumed you were familiar with his theological ideas. Darn!

Answering your questions involves explaining his multi-level interpretation of the sacred narratives of Holy Scripture. Swedenborg claimed that the Lord God’s Holy word contained three distinct levels of meaning – the lowest level represents a LITERAL or terrestrial grasp of the stories in scripture. The answers you seek are made clear from the internal and innermost levels of expression in the Bible. Furthermore, heaven is not a physical world in time or space. I strongly recommend you read either Swedenborg’s great work entitled “Heaven and Hell” or my award-winning book “Proving God. Then you will have the proper background for us to have a serious discussion about these issues.

    Spiritually yours,
