Swedenborg and Gurdjieff’s search for higher mind

ProvingGod300rgb2011bling3smOne of the major discoveries about the “human potential” made by both Emanuel Swedenborg and George Gurdjieff is that all humans have innate and deeper levels of mental activity. This deeper level of perception, understanding and feeling is fully developed in all humans (including the mentally challenged) but out of reach.

These fantastic abilities are not to be developed, but to be reconnected with!

In other words, our lower habitual and mental faculties have to become more aligned to (correspond with) the functioning of these higher states of mind (some call holotropic states of mind).

Both men described the process of reconnecting with this storehouse of cosmic wisdom. This process is totally spiritual. Higher realities can only flow into lower realities that are analogous and form a similitude.

Since these higher capacities are spiritual, they will only flow into the human terrestrial brain to the degree that one’s life is purified from the vanities and allurements of the corporeal/physical world (which spawns evil and falsity).

Under this corrective process (also called spiritual regeneration) the human mind becomes more of an image and likeness of higher realities and is slowly opened up to spiritual or angelic awareness.

What is angelic awareness and perception?

Swedenborg and Gurdjieff both describe this rarefied state of mind as being able to see the circular pattern of all coherent processes (relational holism of a coordinated series of events) occurring in the universe—whether physical, mental or spiritual. To be more precise, one gets to see how love lawfully powers the universe for a divine purpose (teleology).

My book, Proving God offers further verbal and graphic descriptions of this angelic viewpoint and model of ultimate reality—with serious scientific considerations.
