Do angels see things scientifically?

angel-starsMy award-winning book, Proving God, seeks to offer rational and scientific evidence of purposeful and intelligent creation, from the ideas of Emanuel Swedenborg (and George Gurdjieff).

I take issue with certain promoters of religious belief who feel such exacting evidence would go against the laws of Divine Providence, which protect individuals from being compelled to believe in a Creator-God from observations made about physical phenomenon.

(Some people only need a beautiful sunset to see God in nature. Others need more “weighty” data and inputs, which my book provides.)

However, if visible nature offers us a theater (and mirror) of spiritual processes—as both Swedenborg and Gurdjieff contend—then scientific, or natural, law must also be an orderly outcome of non-material and theological realities, manifesting on lower planes.

(In fact, Swedenborg was led to discovering spiritual correspondences from his scientific investigations and observations.)

Correspondences offer humanity a universal model of reality that provides explanatory and predictive powers in the simplest way possible (Occam’s razor). And, this simple explanation must straddle a multi-leveled universe—from finite rocks to an Infinite God!

Unfortunately, this evidence is not easily available to the habitual human mind on earth, which is not elevated high enough to directly see things the way angels do. Swedenborg stated that humans have distinct levels in their brain architecture—from the corporeal to the spiritual—that when activated, observe more and more of God’s creation in terms of lawful and repeating patterns. He describes angels as observing all things before them from “comprehensive wholes”—which means getting the “Big Picture” wherever they turn their eyes.

Opening these higher levels of observation in human minds requires a spiritual transformation of the heart, not just intellectual study. This ensures the protection of God’s sacred knowledge from those who do not deserve it (as well as protecting their free-will from being “forced” to believe in anything they don’t want to).

There are indeed rare individuals on earth who do understand the science of God’s activities in the world, but few humans are prepared to receive such potent knowledge from them. Many non-regenerative (non-heavenly) individuals would even abuse this knowledge from their worldly egoism.
